The windows were done by cutting the spaces out before baking, then as the walls were cooling, we melted clear candies and poured them into the holes, giving the effect of "stained glass" windows.

Using sliced almonds as the doorway gives a "stoney" apprearance.

The pretzel "bridge" was made by bending licorice in an arch form, then placing pretzel sticks across to make a platform.

Shredded mini wheats make a great thatched roof.

The shutters on the windows are made of pieces of gum.

Placing gumdrops along the roofline covers up mistakes and adds color.
